Tough Love

Anyone interested to know whats happening with Sears? With JC Penney? Care to recall the former fallen stars of the department stores like John Wanamaker, Lord & Taylor, etc? You may not recognize those names because they are from stores that closed down that I used to work for in High School, but just take a gander here and see all the department stores that have gone the way of the dodo bird:

PeriShip

The groundhog was not lying; six more weeks of winter certainly have hit us hard! Winter weather presents its own set of unique challenges to the shipping industry. Unfazed by the growing snowbanks, the PeriShip team sees it as an opportunity to show our true value to our customers. What is it that PeriShip does when the forecast calls for snow, sleet, and rain?

PeriShip, a value-added service aligned exclusively with Federal Express for shippers of perishable goods, provides an extra level of customer service and communication for perishable food shipments by providing proactive communication to both the shipper and the recipient. Through our in-depth knowledge of the industry, dedication to our customers, and superior, leading-edge technology, PeriShip services are revolutionizing the way perishable foods are shipped and managed. At PeriShip, we start focusing on our customers’ shipments before the packages even leave the facility. Our operations team checks for possible weather delays, flight status – anything that could impact the timely delivery of our customers’ products. And thanks to our relationship with FedEx, we have contingency plans in place to help ward off potential delays or disruptions.

The PeriShip team carefully tracks weather systems, especially in busy shipping markets and travel hubs. In the eve of bad weather, PeriShip contacts shippers we know regularly ship to areas in the eye of the storm to inform of the impending weather, and what impact that weather may have on their deliveries. We reach out to recipients of packages to inform them of potential delays in delivery due to the winter weather. We extend our hours to accommodate for additional action and inquiries, including having staff in on Sundays to assist shippers evaluate the weather’s impact on their shipments after the fact.

PeriShip understands the importance of every delivery, especially when each box could contain a special treat for a loved one. Our experience gives us the tools and knowledge to go above and beyond to get packages delivered, including expediting to the final destination. We’ll employ snowmobiles if necessary! So while the temperatures drop and the snow piles up, shippers need not worry about their packages being left in the cold, PeriShip will keep an eye on it!

I've fielded a few requests for information about how Amazon Payments is doing for our merchants. The response we've gotten is overwhelmingly positive with the only negative being that they don't support auto-orders right now. Only time will tell whether or not they'll add the ability to run auto-orders, but I wanted to send a shout out to say that Amazon has been very well received and we're in the process of contacting merchants for some case studies. http://docs.ultracart.com/display/ucdoc/FAQ+about+Amazon+Payments

Just got a call from a merchant that had a whole bunch of orders in accounts receivable that she may not be able to recoup. Make sure you keep your eyes on Order Management at least once a day. http://docs.ultracart.com/display/ucdoc/4.+Order+Management
